COVER STORY
Olivetti has launched an extended
range of new A4 mono MFPs to
add speed and efficiency to office
workgroups.
The six new machines replace
four very successful 40ppm models,
but these new versions offer so much
more to the end user.
The preceding models have been
popular among businesses that
don’t have a need for colour prints
or copies. They’ve been reliable,
compact and cost-effective to run,
but now there is a requirement for
faster models in the workgroup
arena. The new models, with print
speeds of 40, 50 and 60 pages per
minute (ppm), also add greater levels
of security and print management.
The new black-and-white A4
multifunctional systems include the
40ppm d-Copia 4003MF and
d-Copia 4004MF, both ideal tools
for small workgroups looking for
versatility and easy operation along
with efficiency.
The range also includes
the d-Copia 4003MFPLUS,
the d-Copia 4004MFPLUS,
the d-Copia 5004MF and
d-Copia 6004MF. Designed to deliver
maximum functionality, for larger
work groups, and outstanding user
friendliness, these systems are
extremely fast for their size.
The d-Copia 4003MFPLUS and
d-Copia 4004MFPLUS print at up to
40ppm, while the d-Copia 5004MF
delivers output at up to 50ppm. The
top-of-the-range d-Copia 6004MF
has a print speed of up to 60ppm
and handles large-scale print
runs, making it an efficient tool for
departmental workplaces.
Customisable display
Four of the new models feature a
7 inch colour touch screen, which,
for maximum readability, can be
tilted at 0°, 10° and 20°. The
intuitive, smartphone-like display,
with a drag and flick action, provides
simple navigation and features some
quite sophisticated improvements,
including a customisable Home
Page, where favourites and
frequently stored jobs can be saved.
It is even possible to change to other
languages and integrate IC Card
Readers in the control panel.
There is also the facility to
personalise workflows through the
touch screen, by adding an optional
hard disk and combining this with
the integrated JAWS functionality
for customised workflow solutions.
This makes the new devices highly
suitable for many public sector
tender requirements.
Shared use
The new systems are ideal as
shared devices in workgroups,
offering network printing and colour
scanning, as well as copying. They
are delivered with an Automatic
Document Feeder and auto duplex
facilities as standard. There is
a 75-sheet reversal document
processor, available for larger
documents, and the range now
supports A6 scanning in both simplex
and duplex, for specialist documents.
The memory can be expanded up
to 1,536 MB and, with the addition
of four optional paper cassettes,
the MFPs can hold up to 2,600 A4
sheets. In addition, all six models are
AirPrint compatible to enable simple
printing from iOS devices.
Data security
Data protection is of fundamental
importance to many office processes
and security is guaranteed through
protected access via the operator
display. Users simply enter their
credentials on the operator panel for
a quick, secure login. Private Print
is supported through the standard
memory, allowing print jobs to be
released by entering a personal PIN
number.
All the models support local
and network authentication and
enhanced network Encryption,
including encrypted PDFs. Security
and confidentiality can be enhanced
further with the installation of an
optional Data Security Kit (E), which
is compliant with the EAL3 security
protocol.
Reliable operation
Compact, but with a paper capacity
of 2,600 sheets when fitted with
additional trays, the new MFPs
feature long-life components made
from ecological materials and highly
efficient long-life consumables. In
this way, they combine reliability
and productivity with reduced
